For what it's worth, I'm going to defend Rolling Stone a bit. Yes, they are fixated on baby-boomer heroes and make more than questionable editorial decisions on a regular basis. Yet, they still provide some amazing writing from time-to-time in their features, and yes, they are still the #1 selling music magazine. Are they as cutting edge and edgy as in the past? Of course not. Neither are your parents. Have they jumped the Stark? Sure. Yet, they still matter. People pay attention and as much as our blog generation hates to say it, a five star review in Rolling Stone still counts more than a 10 on Pitchfork.
